The Karakoram mountain pass spans Pakistan, India and China. It’s the most heavily glaciated part of the world outside of the polar regions. The Karakoram has the highest concentration of 7,000 metre peaks anywhere in the world, 5 of the worlds 8,000 metre peaks. The 8,000 meter peaks in Pakistan are, K2 (8,611 meter), Broad Peak (8,051 meter), Gasherbrum I (8,080 meter) Gasherbrum II 8,035 and Nanga Parbat (8,126 meter). Four of these peaks are found around Concordia in the Baltoro region of the Karakoram and Nanga Parbat at the the foothill of western Himalaya near Gilgit.

Four utterly gorgeous glaciers kiss in the middle, at Concordia. It is described as the throne room of the gods and when you see it, there are no words. The description fits because your heart simply bursts at the sheer beauty of what you are beholding. It is something so beyond, so ethereal, that it could only have been a Divine sculpture. Concordia has been described as the “Throne Room of the Gods” for its unique 360° panorama of 7,000 meter mountains and impressive view of K2. It is for these reasons that the k2 Base camp trek is one of the top three treks in the world.
