K2 Base Camp Trek is located in the Karakoram region of Pakistan, the world’s most spectacular mountain terrain. K2, 8,611 meters, is the second-highest mountain in the world. K2 Base Camp at the foot of the rugged K2 mountain is the summer home for international mountain climbers. Being the dominator of the Baltoro region, K2 has been attracting explorers, climbers and trekkers from all over the world for many decades. Clustered around Baltoro Glacier, in the neighbourhood of K2, there are six other peaks over 7,925 meters and 19 peaks over 7,600 meters, including the mighty Broad Peaks. During the K2 trek, we will camp at Broad Peak base camp for one night, watch the climbers making their way to the summit and witness a breathtaking sunset and sunrise view over K2. The Karakoram Mountains of Pakistan, with a staggering 260 miles of long granite aspires and gigantic glaciers, are a paradise for trekkers.

The K2 base camp trek itinerary is focused on giving you plenty of opportunities to explore the mountain scenery up close, as well as get a sense of local culture. This is one of the itineraries to give you an idea of what we can offer.

The K2 Base Camp Trek journey begins by taking a flight to Islamabad. Islamabad is the closest international airport for mountaineering journeys to the Karakoram mountain region. Our representative will meet and greet you at the Islamabad International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. Islamabad is located at the foothills of the western Himalayas. In 1961, this green city was built as the new Capital of Pakistan. We will meet over dinner to give you a detailed briefing about the K2 base camp trek.

Today, you drive to Islamabad airport for a beautiful mountain view flight to Skardu (Subject to weather). You will see K2, Nanga Parbat and many other famous Karakoram peaks during the flight to Skardu. You will arrive at Skardu airport after 45 minutes, check in to your hotel, and the rest of the afternoon will be at leisure, followed by meeting some of your porters and crew members, who will look after you during the K2 Base Camp Trek.

You will have 1-2 days in Skardu to explore the local long Bazar, Kharpocho Fort and the 8th-century Buddha Rock, which is a reminder of Buddhism in this area before the arrival of Islam. Nestled between the Himalayas and Karakoram mountains on the banks of the Indus, Skardu is a fascinating place, culturally different from the rest of Pakistan. It will be tempting to linger in Skardu’s historical town, but our search for K2 will next take us to the last village of Shigar Valley. The last village of the valley is called Askoli, where you will meet the rest of your crew, have a short break and travel to Johla camp to spend the night under the stars in your tent.

Askoli is a small village with mud brick houses along a narrow street and irrigated apricot fields. Walk to the traditional village centre and visit local schools, mosques and homes to understand the way of life at 3,040 meters. A laid-back village in a beautiful setting, Askoli offers a glimpse of an ancient way of life. Askoli and the Baltistan region are inhabited primarily by Balti people, predominantly of Tibetan and Mongolian descent; architecture and food strongly reflect this. Baltis are generally self-sufficient despite the hostile climate in which they live. After a short break, travel to Johla camp. Johla camp is 3,140 meters above sea level and provides a spectacular night canvas of the Karakoram mountains.

After spending a night at Johla, today, you begin the 10-day Trekking session of the K2 Base Camp Trek in the Karakoram Mountains while staying in hygienically clean and good standard tents with superb camping food. Ascend and trek on the fascinating Baltoro Glacier to reach Concordia. Concordia is the heart of the Karakoram mountain range, where Baltoro and Godwin-Austin glaciers meet in the shadows of Broad Peak, Gasherbrum and K2. Soak up the scenery of this magnificent place and enjoy the mountain vistas all around you before we walk up to Broad Peak base camp the next day.

Concordia to the Broad Peak base camp is a short walk. A night stay at Broad Peak Base Camp makes the following day’s trek to K2 Base Camp and walking back to Concordia much easier. The other reason to stay at Broad Peak base camp is that it provides a breathtaking sunrise and sunset view over mighty K2. Rise and shine early with a hot cup of tea to witness sunrise over K2 and trek to the base camp of K2, the summer home for International mountain climbers who want to scale this mighty Peak. You will have lunch at the Base camp, chat with the Climbers and walk back to Concordia for a night’s stay.

Unfortunately, you can not stay here forever, so travel downwards towards Islamabad. After breakfast, you will start descending the Baltoro Glacier by retracing the steps you have already taken. Walking back to Askoli with the Karakoram giants in the backdrop is also a unique experience. Most of your porters will be from Askoli, so they are happy to see their family and be at home. It will be your last sleep in a tent and an evening with the porters, so expect a traditional musical night followed by singing local Balti songs and dancing around a bonfire.

Wake up in the morning to find your Jeeps ready to take you to Skardu and say goodbye to your porters, as they are your friends now. A jeep drive along the Shigar and Indus Rivers will lead you to Skardu, where you will spend one night and take a mountain view flight back to Islamabad, followed by a free afternoon to explore the green capital city of Pakistan. Your “K2 Base Camp Trek” will conclude in Islamabad. Book your return flight from Islamabad on the last day of our Itinerary.

Day 1ARRIVAL DAY, ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN

Today, you will arrive in Islamabad, the green Capital city of Pakistan. Islamabad airport is the nearest International airport to arrive for trekking holidays in the Karakoram mountains. Our representative will meet and greet you at the airport. If you arrive early in the morning, we might book you for the next flight to Skardu on the same day. Our representative will meet you at the airport, have breakfast with you in a cafe at the airport, and transfer you to the domestic flight lounge for Skardu. In case of arriving in the afternoon, transfer you to your hotel in Islamabad for a night stay and take a flight to Skardu the next morning. In both situations, we will meet over dinner to give you a detailed briefing about the K2 base camp trek.

Day 2MOUNTAIN VIEW FLIGHT TO SKARDU

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Islamabad Airport to take a mountain view flight to Skardu. It is a short 45-minute flight with a spectacular close-up view of Nanga Parbat (8,126m), K2 (8,611m) and other snow-capped Karakoram and Himalayan mountains. Arrive at Skardu Airport and transfer you to your hotel, followed by a free afternoon to meet your Porters and other crew members who will be looking after you during the K2 base camp trek.

Islamabad to Skardu flight is weather-dependent, and there are only 1-2 flights in the morning. In case of flight cancellation, you will drive on the famous Karakoram Highway for a short while, then follow the lush green Naran & Kaghan Valley to Naran Town for a night’s Stay. Next morning, you will cross Babusar Pass (4,173m) to rejoin the Karakoram Highway and drive along the Indus River with a spectacular view of Nanga Parbat in the backdrop to Skardu. Driving on the Karakoram Highway is as spectacular as the flight to Skardu.

Day 3SKARDU (2,230 M)/ SKARDU TO ASKOLI, 7 HOURS DRIVE

Today is a free day to explore Skardu Town while we are preparing the logistics and documentation for the K2 base camp trek. Skardu is the capital of the Baltistan region of Pakistan. Baltistan was once one of the biggest kingdoms of the Himalayas. Baltistan is inhabited primarily by Balti people, predominantly of Tibetan and Mongolian descent, and the food strongly reflects this. Explore the local Long Bazar, Kharpocho Fort, which is built on the top of a mountain and the 8th-century Buddha Rock, which is a reminder of Buddhism in this area before the arrival of Islam. Nestled between the Himalayas and the Karakoram mountains on the banks of the Indus, Skardu is a fascinating place, culturally different from the rest of Pakistan.

NOTE: If the road is closed between Askoli and Johla, then today we will drive from Skardu to Askoli. Spend the night in Askoli.

Day 4SKARDU TO JOHLA VIA ASKOLI (3,140 M): 8 HOURS DRIVE

Rise and shine early to take an 8-hour Jeep ride on a winding road along the Indus and Shigar River to Askoli village, where you will meet the rest of your crew and porters. Askoli, at a height of 3,040 meters above sea level, is the last civilisation before you enter the wilderness of the Karakoram Mountains. Askoli is a small village with mud brick houses along a narrow street and irrigated apricot fields. Any time left in the afternoon can be spent sorting out your trekking kits or walking to the village centre, visiting local schools, mosques and houses to gain a deeper understanding of the way of life at 3,040 meters. A laid-back village in a beautiful setting, Askoli offers a glimpse of an ancient way of life.

After a short break in Askole, you will continue towards Korfong campsite by leaving the green field of Askoli and civilisation behind. You will drive only half an hour to get acclimatised and gain height gradually, expect strong sunrise and heat, and make sure you have plenty of water and suncream with you all the time.

The first few minutes of the drive are quite pleasant as you will be driving on the dry and flat land with a spectacular view of sunburned rocks, followed by an easy walk across the terminal moraine of Biafo Glacier to an oasis of an old campsite, Korfong. Korfong is the junction where Trekkers for Snow Lake and Hispar La trekking groups turn left to continue following the Biafo Glacier and Hispar La to the Hunza Valley.

We will continue our journey towards Johla campsite, followed by river crossings on a bridge. Before the bridge was built, there was an existing pulley system to cross the river. The road stays above the riverbed, contouring around into a side valley, taking you up to Johola Camp. Jhola camp is one of the many camps built by the Pakistan Tourist Department with facilities of clean water, toilets and washing facilities. There is a windfall stream running here, which can be used for cooling your feet and washing. We will pass Jhola camp. Fantastic mountain views throughout the day with Bakhor Das peak (5,809m) and needles of Paiju peaks in the distance, which is a sign of the getaway to Baltoro.

Tonight, you will be sleeping under the stars in your cosy tent, enjoying the spectacular sky full of stars.

Day 5TREK TO PAJU (3,380 M): 7 HOURS TREK

Today is the first walking day of your K2 Base Camp Trek. Your porters and chef will leave ahead of you to set up camps and prepare lunch.

Rise and shine early to have breakfast and start trekking along the river. The path along the river can become loose and undercut, so extra caution is needed. Depending on the temperature, you might have to cross a few small streams to reach Paiju Camp. Sports sandals and old trainers help cross the cold and slippery streams.

Paiju camp is well developed by the Government on a dry hill surrounded by trees and greenery with a fantastic view of Paiju Peaks, Trango Towers, Baltoro Glacier and a glimpse of K2. Enjoy the last greenery and trees which you will see for a while. Paiju camp has some good facilities, washbasins, litter bins and toilet cubicles, which make it a popular stopover for almost all trekkers and expedition groups. A great place to meet and chat with other groups and expect a musical night followed by singing and dancing by local Balti Porters.

Day 06ACCLIMATISING DAY AT PAIJU

Today is the rest day at Paiju. Here, the group eats traditional food and enjoys the gift of the spectacular sights nature offers. Paiju is the stopping point due to the availability of spring water and the incredible view of Trango towers, the Cathedral peaks, and a glimpse of K2. You can relax and admire the immense beauty. The porters here prepare food and make enough bread so that you can eat that while trekking. Moreover, the time spent here is best for acclimatisation.

Day 7TREK TO KHOBURTSE (3,760 M): 7 HOURS TREK

Today, the majestic Baltoro glacier will unfold before you. This is the ultimate route ahead to Concordia and the K2 base camp. An hour’s walk from the Paiju camp will take you up to the snout of the Baltoro Glacier, which will be covered by rubble and rocks to the Goro II campsite. You follow the trails used by other expeditions and trekkers, walking up, down and around the cracks and crevasses of the glacier for a few hours and cross the glacier to the right side of the Valley. Due to the shift in the ice, the exact path here varies from year to year. With a spectacular view of Uli Biaho, Trango Towers and other Karakoram giants, you will come to the old campsite at Liligo, where you will stop and have lunch. Ibexes and some other wildlife can be seen from here.

After lunch, you will walk on a steady uphill, which takes you away from the moraine of the glacier to a grassland full of alpine meadow flowers. Cut across the Liligo Glacier to walk on the uneven surfaces of Baltoro to reach the Khoburtse campsite, which is on flat land by the side of the moraine. Khoburtse camp provides a proper view of Trango Towers, Uli Biaho and Cathedral Towers.

Day 08TREK TO URDUKAS (4,130 M): 4 HOURS TREK

Rise early to have a fantastic sunrise view over Trango Tower, Uli Biaho and Cathedral Towers. After breakfast, you will head towards the historical Urdukas campsite, it will be a short but strenuous walk as you will be constantly gaining height. Most of the trekking will be on the side of the moraine or on the glacier, where rocks and the uneven surface can make trekking hard. Along the way to Urdukas, you will have a fantastic close view of Trango Tower and a view of Broad Peak’s two Tops in the distance.

Urdukas camp is at a wonderful spot, which was built by the Duke of Abruzzi’s men on their expedition in 1909. The terrace overlooks the Baltoro and has spectacular views of Cathedral peaks on the opposite side of the Baltoro Glacier. This camp is the last of the developed campsites, making the most of the litter bins, washbasins and toilets. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the area and relax.

Day 09TREK TO GORO (4,250 M): 7 HOURS TREK

Today, you will continue your K2 base camp trek by crossing over the Glacier with a beautiful close-up view of Masherbrum 7,821 m/25,659ft (also known as the queen of the Karakoram) and Mustagh tower (7,270m) in the distance. As you set off from your camp, you will notice some graveyards of Porters who have passed away while they were in the Baltoro region. Porter stops and gathers around the graves to say a short prayer.

As you make your way upwards, the trail moves to the left side of Baltoro glacier, bringing you closer to Gasherbrum IV peak, which looks like a beacon standing at the top of Baltoro, guiding you towards Concordia. The glacier will still be covered in stones and rock debris. Your trail passes many ice dunes, which makes your day more exciting. Lunch will be served at or close to Goro I, and continue trekking for a few more hours to reach Goro II Campsite for a night stay.

Goro II camp is located on the glacier just after an army camp. It covers a big area, which gives plenty of space to set up your tent. It is not a fixed camp like the previous ones, so there will be limited facilities. The campsite is mainly dominated by the beautiful view of Gasherbrum IV and a spectacular night sky filled with stars.

Day 10TREK TO CONCORDIA (4,600 M): ASCENT 700m, DESCENT 380m, 5 HOURS TREK

Today is a spectacular trekking day as you walk to Concordia, the Throne rooms of the mountain Gods. All the Karakoram giants, which you have been looking at from a distance, are right in front of you now. You are surrounded by Gasherbrum II, 8,035m/26,361ft, III, 7,952m/26,089ft, & IV, 7,925m/26,000ft, Mitre Peak, Chogolisa, 7,665m/25,147ft, Broad Peak, 8,047m/26,401ft, and, visible for the first time, the second highest mountain on the earth – K2, 8,611m/28,251ft.

Concordia is located at an altitude of 4,600m/15,100ft above sea level. Even though our carefully customised K2 Base Camp trek itinerary would have acclimatised you quite well, you might still feel some mild effects at this altitude. The Campsite of Concordia is quite spread out on the confluence of Baltoro and Godwin-Austen glaciers, with a fantastic view of K2 at the head of Godwin-Austen glacier. You might find this place busy, as almost all trekking and climbing expeditions stop here for a day or two. The high altitude, strong wind and hundred feet of ice can make this place colder than all camps, so make sure to put on many layers of clothes to keep yourself warm at night.

Day 11TREK TO BROAD PEAK BASE CAMP (5,000 M): ASCENT 425m, DESCENT 150m, 4 HOURS TREK

Rise and shine early with a hot cup of tea to witness a spectacular sunrise view over K2, Broad Peak and other Karakoram mountains. After a leisurely breakfast, you will walk for 4-5 hours to the Broad Peak base camp for a night’s stay. The trail from Concordia to Broad Peak looks quite plain and easy, but it can be a hard walking day as you would be gaining significant altitude and crossing the uneven rocky surface of Godwin-Austen glacier.

From many years of our experience, we have learnt that camping at Broad Peak base camp provides a spectacular view of K2 and makes it a much easier walk to K2 base camp the next day. Most trekking companies do not camp beyond Concordia, resulting in a very difficult and exhausting 12-13-hour-long day walk to the K2 basecamp and return to Concordia late in the evening, leaving no time to spend at the K2 base camp. We strongly believe that you must spend a few moments at the K2 base camp to pay tribute to the mighty mountain and celebrate your accomplishments.

Broad Peak (8,047m/26,401 ft) is part of the Gasherbrum massif, the 12th highest in the world and the 4th highest mountain in Pakistan. It was first named K3, but later on, it got the popular name of Broad Peak because of its immense over 1 mile (11 kilometres) long summit. On 9th June 1957, the first ascent of Broad Peak was made by an Austrian expedition team led by Marcus Schmuck.

Day 12TREK TO K2 BASE CAMP & BACK TO CONCORDIA (5,150 M): 7 HOURS TREK

Today is one of the top highlights of the K2 Base Camp trek. Rise early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Karakoram mountains and K2. After breakfast, you will hike to the Gilkey Memorial. At the Gilkey memorial, the names of those who lost their lives while climbing K2 are inscribed on plates and plaques. Short break at Gilkey memorial, then continue trekking to arrive at K2 Base camp. K2 base camp height is 5,150 meters above sea level.

This is one of the most exciting journeys you have ever been on, and finally, you got here. After weeks of trekking in the Karakoram wilderness, you are here and have made it to the base camp of K2. It will feel so good to be here; every single step of the way was worth it. You are standing at the most remote base camps in the world, made it through some of the spectacular terrain on this planet, made it through your positive attitude, through crazy weather, through thick and thin, and you made it to K2 Base Camp. And eventually, you found what you came looking for, K2.

There will be a few climbing expeditions, camped up at both the western and eastern sites of the Godwin-Austen glacier. Expedition team members will also be happy to see you and have a chat to get some fresh news from the outside world. Sitting at the foothills of K2 and talking to the world’s top mountain climbers who want to scale this majestic mountain is one of the best places you want to be.

After many days of trekking, you are now standing at K2 base camp. All the hard work would be reasonable since K2 is breathtaking. Here you can have a rest day if you would like to, and admire the beauty of nature. K2 base camp is every mountaineer’s dream place after Everest.

We then follow the medial moraine of the Godwin Austen Glacier back to Concordia. We trek for 7- 8 hours on rocky land with many ups and downs until we reach Concordia.

Day 13TREK BACK TO GORO (4,170 M): ASCENT 375m, DESCENT 600m, 7 HOURS TREK

Wake up early to witness a spectacular sunrise view over the K2 and Broad Peak mountains for the last time. It is time to say goodbye to K2 and follow the same itinerary back to Islamabad. Today, you will start descending from Concordia to Goro camp with a beautiful view of Mustagh Tower (7,284m), Trango Tower, Paiju Peaks and Cathedral ahead of you. Walk back towards civilisation with an amazing experience of watching K2, the second-highest mountain on this planet, from its foothills. It’s time to say goodbye to K2.

Day 14TREK BACK TO KHOBURTSE (3,560 M): ASCENT 750m, DESCENT 1,080m, 7 HOURS TREK

After breakfast, you will continue descending on the Baltoro glacier towards Khoburtse camp. You will start noticing the drop in altitude as there is more oxygen in the air and the climate is much warmer. Pass the Urdukas camp and continue trekking down the valley to Khoburtse campsite for a night’s stay.

Day 15TREK BACK TO PAiJU (3,380 M): ASCENT 400m, DESCENT 800m: 5 HOURS TREK

Continue trekking down the valley on Baltoro Glacier, and soon, you will be walking on more solid ground with more greenery around you. You will arrive at Paiju camp early in the afternoon and enjoy the rest of the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Paiju camp is one of the busiest camps where most trekking groups and expeditions stop. Porters meet their friends and enjoy a musical night, followed by singing local Balti songs and dancing.

Day 16TREK BACK TO JHOLA, (3,170 M): ASCENT 500m, DESCENT 750m: 5 HOURS TREK

You will be returning to civilisation, as today will be your last trekking day of the K2 base camp trek. Most of your porters will be from this village, so they are happy to be back home. Fresh produce will be available here, so your chef will serve a luxury last meal of the camp.

Trekking on the Baltoro glacier session is over, and from now on, you will hike on solid ground, which makes good progress down the valley. Trails pass along the Braldu River, and you might have to cross a few streams. Continue following the Braldu River to arrive at Jhola Camp.

Enjoy your last evening in the sleeping bag in the tent under the stars.

Day 17DRIVE BACK TO SKARDU, 8-HOURS

Today, you will say farewell to your porters and other trekking crew who have looked after you for the last two weeks. After loading up your gear in the Jeep, start the scenic drive on the winding road along the Shigar and Indus Rivers to arrive in Skardu. Tonight, you will sleep in a real bed with the luxury of a hot shower.

Day 18FLY BACK TO ISLAMABAD

After Breakfast, you will be transferred to Skardu Airport for a spectacular mountain view flight back to Islamabad. Skardu has a single-runway airport, and there are only 1-2 flights to and from Skardu to Islamabad in a day, which always rely on clear weather. Due to the narrow valleys and high mountains, flights can not land in Skardu if the sky is cloudy. Arrive at Islamabad Airport and transfer to your hotel, and the rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore the purpose-built capital city of Pakistan.

Islamabad is located on the lower hills of the western Himalayas. It has a reputation for being the most beautiful and green capital city in the world. Margala Hill, with its wildlife, Parliament House, Faisal Mosque and Jinnah Super Food Street, are worth visiting.

If you missed the flight due to bad weather, then today you will be travelling on Skardu Road towards Gilgit along the Indus River and joining the Karakoram Highway to reach Naran for a night stay. Naran is located in the lush green Naran & Kaghan Valley, which is very popular among domestic tourists.

Day 19CONTINGENCY DAY IN CASE OF DELAYS - ISLAMABAD

Today is a contingency day to use in case of flight cancellation and road blockades due to bad weather. If you managed to take the flight yesterday, then today will be a free day to explore Islamabad and the neighbouring twin city of Rawalpindi. Rawalpindi is also known as Pindi, the fourth-largest city in Pakistan. Rawalpindi falls within the ancient boundaries of ancient Gandhara civilisation, a region littered with Buddhist ruins. Located along the famous trunk road and the ancient invasion route, this city was ruled by Arabs, Mongols, Mughals, and Sikh empires, and later on became the largest containment of the British Empire.

If you missed the flight yesterday, then today you will be travelling on Naran Road along the Naran River to reach Mansehra city and rejoin the Karakoram Highway, which will pass through the historical towns of Abbottabad, Hassan Abdal and Taxila to arrive in Islamabad later in the afternoon.

Day 20DEPARTURE DAY - FLY BACK HOME

Today, we will transfer you to Islamabad airport for your flight back to your home country. Your “K2 base camp trek” officially ends here.

Trip Altitude

Important note – please be aware that the K2 Base Camp Trek involves travelling at high altitudes. Whilst our itinerary has been very carefully designed to optimise acclimatisation to high altitudes, participants on the K2 trek are likely to experience some symptoms of being at high altitude. Some trekking experience at high altitude is recommended, but not essential, as you can train yourself to prepare for the high altitude environments. Climate

The climate of Islamabad is humid subtropical with five seasons: winter, spring, summer (Monsoon, July-August) and Autumn. June is the hottest month of the year with an average temperature between 35-40 °C, and July is the wettest month as the monsoon starts and the temperature drops to 25- 30 °C during the daytime. The climate of Gilgit Baltistan is cooler compared to the rest of the country, except 30c in Skardu and around 25c in Askoli. During the trek, the temperature is warm, and the sun will be strong, so carry sun creams, sunglasses, a hat and plenty of water. Daytime temperature will be down to single figures as you reach Concordia. You may encounter snowfall around the upper Baltoro region, but it will be melted by July. Expect snowfall at Concordia even in July and August if the weather is cloudy. Overnight temperature can drop down to -10c from Paiju onwards, so make sure to carry a good quality down sleeping bag which covers a minimum -20c temp. The Karakoram mountains are sheltered from the monsoon season, making summertime an ideal season for trekking. As you can imagine, the weather is unpredictable in the mountains, so expect short-lived storms at any time.

All meals from day 1 to the last day of the trip are included. Pakistan is blessed with a variety of mouth-watering and delicious cuisines. Breakfast, Lunch and a three-course dinner will be served throughout the trip.

Hill View Hotel or Similar, Islamabad

The Hillview Hotel is located in the heart of Islamabad city and near the foothills of the famous Margalla Hills. There is easy access to markets, food street, carpet shops, the famous ‘Kabul’ restaurant, post office and banks as well. The hotel is clean and comfortable.

Summit Hotel, Ptdc Hotel or Similar

Summit Hotel and Ptdc Hotel Skardu offer a panoramic view of mountains, KharpochoFort and the mighty Indus River. There are 30 clean, safe and comfortable rooms with en-suite facilities. The restaurant provides delicious local, Chinese and continental cuisines.

Camp

On our K2 Base Camp Trek, the following items are provided: a sleeping tent (we use three-person dome tents for two people), a dining tent, a toilet tent exclusively for your group to use, and a kitchen tent. There are camp chairs or stools, a kerosene/gas lamp or candles for reading in the dining tent at night, a dining table, crockery and tableware. Our staff put up and take down the tents, make the tea, cook the food, wash the dishes, and load the porters. Your kit bag is carried for you by porters, and you will trek with just a light day sack.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is highly recommended, but it is not essential or mandatory for the K2 Base Camp Trek. When taking out an insurance policy, please make sure your insurance policy covers the type of adventure travel holiday you are taking with us.

Health & Vaccinations

If you have any type of allergy, please inform us before you travel. We will do our best to help, but we can not guarantee an allergy-free environment. You must carry your treatment for the allergy with you all the time, such as adrenaline auto-injectors, etc. Please inform your mountain Guide and the team leader about your allergy on arrival in Pakistan, and let them know where you keep your medicine.

Contact your general practitioner or an approved travel clinic to check if you need any vaccinations or other medical preparation for the type of holiday and the country you are about to visit. Must be up to date with routine courses such as typhoid, hepatitis, polio, and measles. Malaria and Dengue exist in the neighbouring areas of Islamabad; however, it does not exist in Gilgit Baltistan and the mountains.

All international tourists require a visa to enter Pakistan. K2 is in the restricted zone, so you need a trekking visa. You are not allowed to do the K2 Base Camp trek with a standard tourist visa.
