Food and Water

Eating is a big part of travelling. Travelling with us, you experience the vast array of tasty food that is available out in Pakistan. Meals are included in the trip price so you can sit back and enjoy the trekking holiday in Pakistan.

During the treks, our highly trained trek cooks prepare a variety of local and western dishes, using ingredients purchased in Skardu, Pakistan. For breakfast, there is cereal, muesli or porridge, eggs, bread or chapatti, tea, and coffee. Lunch is usually a picnic, consisting of canned fish, tinned meats, cheese, pickles, pate, and crackers or chapattis, sometimes served with hot soup and noodles, and finished off with tea or coffee. Dinner is served in the group ‘mess’ tent and is a three-course meal. In general, we can accommodate vegetarian diets, but you must let us know if you would like an exclusively vegetarian diet.
Untreated water from the tap should not be consumed at all. Water is supplied to fill your bottles during the trek. It will be boiled, filtered or provided in large jerry cans or 5-litre bottles. If you are in towns or where water is not available, you should also bring purification tablets or a filter bottle (such as a Water-To-Go bottle). We do not encourage the purchasing of single-use plastic bottles.
